Workstream Product Enhancements

systematicHR Avatar

The Talent management space is always a complex market. If you think about the talent management suite, you’re talking about workforce development, learning managmeent, performance management, compensation management, succession planning, and probably a few more I can’t think of off the top of my head. Vendors need to develop not just a single product suite, but each component is complex in and of itself. Workstream has had a few major releases lately. First of all, their new Communicator product basically sits on top of the Worksteam suite to deliver targetted communications to the workforce through the Workstream portal. TMS suites have focused on engineering automated processes and increasing core functionality. It’s nice to see the next generation of thought coming out of the vendors. While we’ll need to see how Workstream’s newest module increases user adoption, it’s a great step.

The newest version of Performance Management was also released in February adding some core functionality, but also increasing the breadth of the product.

As I’ve said before, Workstream is going to make a comeback this year.

Dubs – I would sure love to know why you think they will be making a comeback besides some recent enhancements. They continue to bleed cash, they are losing revenue, implementations are being delayed, and now they are considering “strategic alternatives” for the business. Workstream has acquired some solid products but I have yet to see them all work together in an integrated environment.

Jason: I’l lagree that their making a comback this year might be a longshot. Sounds like they are going through the process of getting themselves sold off to any willing buyer. However, last year they made some great investment in technology and data center. I like the product direction. Unfortunately the sales and marketing seem to be a tad (or more) off and isn’t making the type of recovery one would hope for.

If I was a client looking specifically at product, functionality and their ability to execute, Workstream would be among my top vendors. If I had to consider financials and recent growth, they might not make the list.
