People Decisions

People decisions are the ultimate – perhaps the only – control of an organization. People determine the performance capacity of an organization. No organization can do better than the people it has. ((Drucker, Peter F. “The Daily Drucker.” HarperCollins, 2004. Page 117))

If it had to come from anyone, Peter Drucker is (was) perhaps the best voice for Human Resources. Taking that one step further, Drucker is perhaps the best voice for talent management.

From workforce planning, to succession planning, to learning and development, and recruiting, how HR executes and shapes the workforce is a key indicator of the success of the organization.

Executives have always said that their company’s most important asset are the people. It’s always been a tag line, but more and more, executives are starting to understand and believe in it. In HR, is our belief in our profession as great as it should be?
