Yeah, believe it or not, I have a GPS on my bike.\u00a0 It\u2019s even a Garmin.\u00a0 With a push of a button I can go to a screen that either shows me how fast I\u2019m going and what my heart rate is, or I can see a little map with direction arrows and everything.\u00a0 I can download my ride when I get home and it will google map the whole thing for me.\u00a0 If I get lost, I have a little function that points the way home (I have never had to use this).<\/p>\n
It\u2019s always good to know where you\u2019re going.\u00a0 I\u2019d say about 1 in 10 riders on the road now have a GPS unit.\u00a0 (we\u2019re talking racer types, not your average rider).\u00a0 I\u2019d guess that the stat is about the same for managers in the business.\u00a0 Maybe even less than 10% have good KPI\u2019s that are presented on their dashboards every day.\u00a0 Not only do they not know \u201cwhere they are,\u201d but they don\u2019t know what their organizational turnover rate is and how their employee engagement scores impact it.\u00a0 They haven\u2019t been trained on how to apply management techniques to create more satisfied employees.\u00a0 Executives don\u2019t have a good view to see how many of their managers have finished their performance reviews and how that rate impacts the overall development of talent within the organization.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m not saying that every cyclist needs GPS, it\u2019s actually just a nice to have on the bike.\u00a0 But every manager and executive needs to have KPI\u2019s and understand what they mean and how they are applied in the business.<\/p>\n
