{"id":157,"date":"2005-03-25T11:30:00","date_gmt":"2005-03-25T19:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/?p=157"},"modified":"2005-12-02T21:13:30","modified_gmt":"2005-12-02T21:13:30","slug":"top-5-hr-priorities-from-genesys-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/?p=157","title":{"rendered":"Top 5 HR priorities from Genesys survey"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Take this with a grain of salt as this is a Genesys press release and these \u201ctrends\u201d may just be application areas they are strong in.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.salary.com\/HRMS-Payroll\/genesyshcm.asp\">http:\/\/www.genesyshcm.com\/Docs\/news\/trends_survey_results-pr.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I\u2019ve never paid too much attention to Genesys until recently as I\u2019ve considered them a legacy play.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>They seem to have revamped their software to compete however, and their presence has been increasing in the marketplace again.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>I was them in a benefits and compensation magazine the other day where they were interviewed regarding outsourcing payroll along with Ceridian and ADP.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>That was a little strange.<\/p>\n<p class=\"maincopy\">\u201cAccording to respondents of the survey sponsored by Genesys, the top HCM priorities for 2005 include<\/p>\n<p> Talent acquisition and retention &#8211; 57%<o :p><\/o><br \/>Performance management &#8211; 54%<o :p><\/o><br \/>Streamlining processes &#8211; 52%<o :p><\/o><br \/>Talent and leadership      development -50%\u201d    <\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\"> <\/ul>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"\">Fist of all, let\u2019s group both of the talent categories into a larger \u201cTalent Management\u201d category.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>Let\u2019s then break it out again into staffing\/talent acquisition, talent management (with performance, training as subsets) and succession planning\/leadership development.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>Basically what they are saying is that Talent is the big trend.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>Well this really is no surprise as \u201cTalent\u201d has been one of the big buzz word for the last several years.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>It is however very true that talent, a more proactive, directed and strategic way to manage your human capital, seems to be a great umbrella category.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>I say this because you look at talent and every other HR practice really wraps in.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>As always, individual HR practice groups need to be very collaborative in order to achieve their mission.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"\">The streamline processes priority is a great general operational efficiency goal.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>I don\u2019t want to discount this because everyone can benefit from<span style=\"\">  <\/span>better process efficiency.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>I want to note that when you change your processes, there\u2019s a good chance you are implementing or modifying your software practices with new technology (HRMS, self service or portal) or workflow, all of which may be expensive to implement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"\">All in all, I think that the Genesys announcement does not contribute anything new.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>These have been priorities for quite some time now.<o :p><\/o><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both;
