{"id":2502,"date":"2013-10-23T10:00:22","date_gmt":"2013-10-23T18:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/?p=2502"},"modified":"2013-10-23T10:00:28","modified_gmt":"2013-10-23T18:00:28","slug":"bread-butter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/?p=2502","title":{"rendered":"Bread &amp; Butter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It always frustrates me when I&#8217;m dieting &#8211; I have to forego one of my favorite food items: \u00a0Butter. \u00a0Butter (fat) along with bacon fat (fat) is one of those amazing joys of life. \u00a0When butter is great, a bit salty, a lot smooth, and a lot fatty, it is a wonderful thing \u00a0Unfortunately, one cannot generally eat butter straight off the spoon without incurring some ridicule from friends. \u00a0Therefore, one must also eat bread. \u00a0To me, bread is not just a necessary evil. \u00a0Great bread on its own is also a joy of life. \u00a0It can be beautifully crusty on the outside, warm on the inside. \u00a0But sometimes when the bread is not great, it&#8217;s just a delivery system for the butter. \u00a0Perfect harmony ensues when both the bread and butter a great.<\/p>\n<p>HR service delivery (you knew it was coming, don&#8217;t roll your eyes) is quite like bread and butter. \u00a0Imagine your HR business partners as the bread and butter as amazing data and insights. \u00a0When the HRBP is great, you have a wonderful partnership of a person who actively gets to know the business, builds great relationships, communicates, plans and collaborates effectively. \u00a0Unfortunately, the HRBP is often paired with crappy systems, inaccurate data, and poor reporting capabilities. \u00a0The business wants a partner, but they also want a partner that can help diagnose what is going on with their people.<\/p>\n<p>Butter on the other hand is like great data. \u00a0When systems and data are in good order, access to reporting and discovering insights become possible. \u00a0Insights into the organization and people don&#8217;t mean anything \u00a0however if all you have is some people at corporate that don&#8217;t have relationships into each business segment. \u00a0Data and insights get lost in the fray, lost y the wrong people, poorly communicated, and otherwise rendered meaningless.<\/p>\n<p>Just as you can&#8217;t eat butter straight (again without incurring ridicule), you need a good delivery system. \u00a0That&#8217;s the bread.
