Contrary to the title of this post, I\u2019ll now state that it\u2019s not always about the user.\u00a0 Sometimes it\u2019s about better process.\u00a0 It\u2019s nice to think about a core HRMS with a talent acquisition system, talent management, learning, and whatever else sitting around.\u00a0 You\u2019d have the best in class systems.\u00a0 However, the chore of synchronizing all your competency models into every component of the application suite gets pretty crazy.\u00a0 It\u2019s true you can interface the whole thing and tie it up with a pretty red bow.\u00a0 But once you have your data integrated, you need to get your process integrated.\u00a0 Therefore, all those workflows that kick off in the core HRMS now need to created events that in turn create new workflows in the point solutions.<\/p>\n
Basically what I\u2019m saying is the technology currently exists to integrated data across systems, but the integration of workflow and process across systems is much less mature.\u00a0 ERP solutions have a huge advantage in overall integration.<\/p>\n
If integration is so good, then we should talk about how far behind the ERP\u2019s are in functionality and usability.\u00a0 PeopleSoft version 9.0 will have huge improvements in usability.\u00a0 Their focus intelligent UI design is finally catching up to their focus on increasing functionality.\u00a0 Also, Oracle Fusion is going to be cool.\u00a0 I\u2019ve stated many times over that I don\u2019t think Fusion will be released on time.\u00a0 However, I might have to eat my own words \u2013 yup, I\u2019ve seen the future and the sub-alpha is really out there.\u00a0 Current PeopleSoft users have a ray of hope.\u00a0 SAP had better be careful.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
