{"id":695,"date":"2007-03-12T01:00:42","date_gmt":"2007-03-12T09:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/?p=695"},"modified":"2007-03-12T01:00:52","modified_gmt":"2007-03-12T09:00:52","slug":"the-most-critical-jobs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/?p=695","title":{"rendered":"The Most Critical Jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><o><\/o>Why is it that the jobs that are really important are always the ones that are overlooked?<span>  <\/span>Either they are overlooked, pushed aside, or when times get tough, are the first to go.<span>  <\/span>I\u2019ve been meaning to write about this for a couple of weeks.<span>  <\/span>Recently a friend of mine head that his <a href=\"http:\/\/systematic.hrblogs.org\/2007\/02\/23\/welcome-to-the-job-market-systematic\/\" target=\"_blank\">job was getting <st1 w:st=\"on\">RIF<\/st1>\u2019d<\/a>.<span>  In fact, he&#8217;s one of these guys who really ramps up the adoption rate of your tools through design.  <\/span>It got me to thinking about what the business says is important, and what the business acts upon.<span>  <\/span>I have always complained that things like change management tasks in projects are always the first to go.<span>  <\/span>In fact, things like change management are minimized to training tasks and communications, not real behavioral change.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">But when it comes to HR technology, critical elements like design and adoption are really the drivers of ROI.<span>  <\/span>If you want your end users to not only have a good user experience on your portal and go back to it (often), but you also want them to have an effective and informational experience, you need design on your side.<span>  <\/span>All too often, creating a user experience that drives participation and utilization while at the same time creates additional engagement is forgotten on the road to process based ROI.<span>  <\/span>We forget that ROI comes not from people saving a step or two, or from our not having to hire someone to pick up a phone.<span>  <\/span>ROI comes from the employee actually wanting to use a product and the displacement of an alternative, higher cost process.<span>  <\/span>It\u2019s not the task that counts, it\u2019s the adoption rate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Thanks for listening to another rant.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why is it that the jobs that are really important are always the ones that are overlooked?
