{"id":816,"date":"2007-11-27T01:00:00","date_gmt":"2007-11-27T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/?p=816"},"modified":"2007-11-27T01:00:17","modified_gmt":"2007-11-27T09:00:17","slug":"defining-web-30","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/?p=816","title":{"rendered":"Defining Web 3.0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Anyone who had read this site for a while knows that I love nothing more than criticizing my fellow bloggers.\u00a0 While I have the utmost respect for many of them, when someone goes a bit too far out on a limb, they deserved to be called out for it.\u00a0 In this case, it\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/calacanis.com\/2007\/10\/03\/web-3-0-the-official-definition\/\" target=\"_blank\">Calacanis.com<\/a> attempting to define Web 3.0.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Web 3.0 is defined as the creation of high-quality content and services produced by gifted individuals using Web 2.0 technology as an enabling platform.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is just silly for several reasons.\u00a0 First of all, we don\u2019t all know what Web 2.0 is, and I have no reason to believe that Web 2.0 has finished evolving.\u00a0 This simply means that any attempt to portray Web 3.0 before its time is meaningless.\u00a0 This leads me to my second point on why the above definition is silly.\u00a0 Saying that Web 3.0 is all the stuff that is created due to Web 2.0 is saying that they are the same thing.\u00a0 Let\u2019s face it, using Web 2.0 to create better content and services is one of the benefits of Web 2.0.\u00a0 The fact that content is better does not mean that there was any evolution producing a \u201cversion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s really interesting to try and understand the world we live in and put names to things.\u00a0 Often, terms like Web 2.0 really do help us figure out our surroundings.\u00a0 However, when we try and theorize around the current environment, this should be done in a thoughtful and informed manner.\u00a0 Web 3.0 is not here and may not be here for some time to come.\u00a0 I look forward to the day when I know what it is, and in all probability, we won\u2019t even call it Web #(dot)#.\u00a0 Let\u2019s leave this one alone and be happy that 2.0 exists and is making our cyber lives better.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anyone who had read this site for a while knows that I love nothing more than criticizing my fellow bloggers.\u00a0 While I have the utmost respect for many of them, when someone goes a bit too far out on a&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_coblocks_attr":"","_coblocks_dimensions":"","_coblocks_responsive_height":"","_coblocks_accordion_ie_support":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[2,46],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-816","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-hr-technology","category-web-20"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/816","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=816"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/816\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=816"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=816"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=816"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
