{"id":858,"date":"2008-01-15T01:00:30","date_gmt":"2008-01-15T09:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/?p=858"},"modified":"2008-01-15T01:00:40","modified_gmt":"2008-01-15T09:00:40","slug":"rumors-and-news-in-the-hr-technology-space","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/?p=858","title":{"rendered":"Rumors and News in the HR Technology Space"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So I took a brief 3 week pause from writing in December and quite a bit happened.\u00a0 Here is a brief summary of the news:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>December 4:\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.informationweek.com\/blog\/main\/archives\/2007\/12\/microsoft_rumor_1.html\" target=\"_blank\">Reuters<\/a> reported a rumor that Microsoft was looking at a possible acquisition of SAP.\u00a0 While I find this highly unlikely, and while rumors of this also happened back in 2003, it would be interesting to see what would happen if these two giants came together.\u00a0 Also interesting would be to see how these two companies would negotiate the use of different technologies, often technologies that Microsoft is patently against.<\/li>\n<li>December 31:\u00a0 Workstream reported an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/portal\/site\/google\/index.jsp?ndmViewId=news_view&amp;newsId=20071231005138&amp;newsLang=en\" target=\"_blank\">unsolicited offer for a merger<\/a>.\u00a0 At first it sounds like ADP, but merger would not quite be right there.\u00a0 However, Workstream, even though they just got some new money, would benefit greatly from this type of acquisition.\u00a0 The infusion of money they would get for development purposes would keep them a world class competitor, but if ADP, the leverage a huge salesforce would give them in the marketplace would make them second to none.\u00a0 I\u2019m a bit torn on this one.\u00a0 We saw Virtual Edge, a product I like very much, basically disappear from the marketplace after ADP acquired them.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure their sales are way up, but I just never hear news about them anymore.\u00a0 So it\u2019s beneficial to the product, but perhaps not for the market if that makes sense.\u00a0\u00a0 (Hat tip to Jason Corsello for finding this one)<\/li>\n<li>January 2:\u00a0 Goldman is <a href=\"    *  http:\/\/www.alleyinsider.com\/2008\/01\/goldman-pees-on-softwareasservice-cos-knxa-sfsf-tleo.html\" target=\"_blank\">bearish overall on the HCM market<\/a>, but specifically points out SuccessFactors, Kenexa and Taleo.\u00a0 Apparently they don&#8217;t like SaaS and think the general HCM market is too competitive.\u00a0 However it\u2019s phrased, ASP, SaaS or whatever you want to call it is here to stay.\u00a0 The model of hosting software and providing robust services around it makes a lot of sense for a great variety of organizations.\u00a0 At the same time, they are probably right about talent vendors.\u00a0 There are just too many of them out there right now.\u00a0 Consolidation is happening and will continue to happen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So I took a brief 3 week pause from writing in December and quite a bit happened.\u00a0 Here is a brief summary of the news: December 4:\u00a0 Reuters reported a rumor that Microsoft was looking at a possible acquisition of&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_coblocks_attr":"","_coblocks_dimensions":"","_coblocks_responsive_height":"","_coblocks_accordion_ie_support":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[5,2,29,22,41,26,3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-858","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-adp","category-hr-technology","category-hrms","category-industry-news","category-point-solutions","category-sap","category-vendors"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/858","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=858"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/858\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=858"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=858"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=858"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
