{"id":946,"date":"2008-09-17T01:00:36","date_gmt":"2008-09-17T09:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/?p=946"},"modified":"2008-09-17T01:00:46","modified_gmt":"2008-09-17T09:00:46","slug":"changing-talent-strategies-for-hr-strategies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/?p=946","title":{"rendered":"Changing Talent Strategies for HR Strategies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So how many people do you have?\u00a0 What are their competencies?\u00a0 What is the total aggregated of any particular competency in your entire employee base?\u00a0 What is the engagement level for each of those employee populations for those competencies?\u00a0 Do those engagement levels change by generation, location, or line of business?\u00a0 Do you even care?<\/p>\n<p>Well of course you care, but chances are (like most organizations) the talent strategy means that you try to answer all of these questions for all of your many customers.\u00a0 Every business thinks they are the most important and wants the top level talent acquisition support.\u00a0 Each business wants their employees to be the most engaged and to be the best trained.\u00a0 But the reality is that there are specific places that the business has defined to be the growth engines, or are the profit centers.\u00a0 It is these parts of the organization that your talent equation should be executing at the highest levels and at the highest priority.\u00a0 Listen, if the CEO wants to grow the (retail) business in (Texas), as the major part of the profit equation, guess what your main job is?<\/p>\n<p>So we look at growth and profit, but we also have to look at the overall strategy.\u00a0 It\u2019s not always about getting the best people to fill profit centers.\u00a0 Sometimes the growth is about a specific avenue for growth.\u00a0 If the strategy is to grow by M&amp;A, HR has a much different role in evaluating acquisition targets and their talent profile they will bring to the combined organization.\u00a0 If instead, your organization strategy is innovation or scientific discovery, how you source and create a talent infrastructure for your innovators to collaborate, share knowledge, and just not be distracted from that will be quite different from the M&amp;A strategy.\u00a0 And of course there is the customer service strategy, or retail growth and sales, etc.\u00a0 Each of these requires a different focus when it comes to talent management, but often I simply see the same thing from company to company: Talent means catering to all people.\u00a0 It does not.\u00a0 As in the rest of HR, you need to pick your spots and realize what the broader organization is doing to be most aligned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So how many people do you have?\u00a0 What are their competencies?\u00a0 What is the total aggregated of any particular competency in your entire employee base?\u00a0 What is the engagement level for each of those employee populations for those competencies?\u00a0 Do&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_coblocks_attr":"","_coblocks_dimensions":"","_coblocks_responsive_height":"","_coblocks_accordion_ie_support":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[8,44,20],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-946","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-strategies","category-innovation","category-talent-management"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/946","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=946"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/946\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=946"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=946"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/systematichr.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=946"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
