The intersection between HR strategy and HR technology

HR Technology Conference

systematicHR Avatar

There are a few conferences that I think are great.  There are others I think are pretty mundane.  The great ones are about content, the mundane about sales, vendors, and vendor presentation.  One of the great ones is the HR Technology Conference in Chi-town annually.  We’re always interested in things like the vendor shootouts, but I’ve also known many HR practitioners (not vendors) present at the show providing real life experiences, not theories.

About 2,400 high-level HR practitioners (a third VP or above), software and service vendor CEOs, and all the industry analysts attend from a dozen different countries. They come for the excellent no-sales-hype conference sessions, the largest show floor of 250 exhibitors, and what is indisputably the annual town meeting of this industry.

As an offer to the readership of systematicHR.com, I asked my old friend, conference co-chair Bill Kutik, to extend a special discount to the 11th annual in Chicago, October 15-17, to readers of this blog. He agreed, and here’s how you can get it: Download the brochure or check out their program at www.HRTechnologyConference.com . If you want to register, type SYST in the Promotion Code box in the online form, and you’ll get $470 off the $1,545 regular registration rate. That discount is larger than any publicly offered, in print or online, and gets relatively bigger when the normal discount expires on August 1.

Hope to see you there?  (although I suppose you’ll not have any idea who I am…)

Since I am not sure who actually authors this blog, it is difficult for me to tell if your comments about the HR Tech show are truly from a neutral perspective or just an advertisement for Bill Kutik’s event.

What makes me think that this is more of an advertisement is your comment about the event being “indisputedly the annual town meeting of the industry”.
For many in the industry, the IHRIM Conference is the “must attend” event and is seen as the annual town meeting of the industry.

    Thanks Jacqueline:
For the first time in the history of the site, I’ve plugged a couple of things (also the Cedar Crestone survey this past Monday). Wording for much of the posts came from the respective organizations, and unexpectedly (mostly on e-mail) I’ve received quite a bit of negative feedback that I should not be engaging in these activities. So I appreciate your feedback and the rest of the readership.

    Jacqueline:

I have attended 15 of the last 17 IHRIM annuals. And I agree with you: it is the original town meeting of the industry. But with every HR analyst, about 30 vendor CEO’s, and more than 1,000 practitioners (a third at VP level or higher) attending HR Technology, I think you’ll grant us after 11 years at least sharing that distinction with IHRIM.

Yes, I did supply Dubs with some verbiage — I mean, the guy writes every day! — but I assume he didn’t use any of it that he didn’t believe.

I’m sorry if his readership found the content — or a substantial discount to the event — offensive. But he wasn’t incorrect.

Thanks Bill. The general point being that if anyone is going, Bill offered the readers of systematicHR a better discount than if they go straight to the HR Technology Conference site.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, and thanks Bill for the discount.
